I love a good magazine. However, it has been increasingly difficult to find one that upholds the values we strive to live by. I am tired of hearing and seeing so-called Hollywood icons being the role models for women today, when so many of them flaunt immorality and incorrect principles (and make us feel we should all be a size “0”). The roles of an LDS woman today are so varied, and our influence so critical, I decided it was time that we, as LDS women, had our very own magazine.
My vision has been to find contributors for the magazine who were real, who lived lives similar to us regardless of where they lived around the world. I wanted a magazine that would have information for different seasons of a woman’s life, so that no matter what age, between the covers you would find something that you could relate to. I wanted us to get to know each other and really and truly feel a greater connection across the miles.
I am so aware of how many incredible women there are around the world with such immense talent, that it was my desire to create an avenue where these could be shared with each other. A place where you could share your voice whether through articles, poetry, art, humor, knowledge or whatever medium represented the song your spirit wanted to sing.
Each one of us, at times, has the feeling of being overwhelmed with the responsibilities we have with our family, home, church callings, work, scripture reading, personal prayer, etc. It is rare that we find or take time for ourselves to just escape! For this reason, we have launched this digital magazine so that you can return to it as often as you want. For just a brief moment of respite, you can flick the pages and be transported into someone else’s experience and feel strength in knowing that we share a common bond – that of not wanting to be “of the world.” As Sheri Dew said, “Let us be the generation of women that finally walks away from the world”.
